Tethering is My New Thing

Tethering ... Wow, such a fancy word, right? Well thats because it is... Tethering is the newest and best thing to ever happen to technology since... Umm  iPods, iPhones, 3G Networks, Macbooks, Wi-Fi... And that's because tethering enables you to use a mobile device to supply Internet access for another device. In other words, for you slow pokes, it means you can now SHARE your phone's Internet with any other device (such as computer, PDA, etc) by simply connecting it via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or USB.

So... Basically when there's no Wi-Fi hotspot around, for example, or your cable modem goes on the fritz, or you're on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, lost and need an online map quick ... you get the idea... you can easily get internet through your cellphone... Ahhhhh, now tell me this isn't the best invention ever?

Oh and there is more.... If you're already paying for data service on your cell phone and your celular provider doesn't require any extra fees for using your cell phone as a modem for your laptop, tethering can also save you money, since you won't have to pay for separate mobile broadband service or buy additional hardware just to get your laptop connected.

Plus, you can also surf the web more securely using a tethered cell phone, because your information is being sent directly through the phone versus unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots.
