Health City!!!

Yesterday,  I finally joined the local gym here in Antwerp.

Today was my first day back to working out,
I know I will be feeling a little sore tomorrow
since it was been awhile since I haven't
lifted some weights.

I really look forward to working out here
there are a view different HEALTH CITY clubs here
such as:
The Inclusive Club
The Ladies Only Club
and for the fancy pants
they offer a
 PREMIUM club
(where everything just costs more. but they offer
towel service, fruits available, internet corner etc...)

I joined the INCLUSIVE club,
because it was the closer to me
but it also included everything I really need in a gym.

The atmosphere at this place is great to train,
big open windows, personal trainers on sight
coffee, tea and soft drinks area,
sauna, steam room,
huge swimming pool,
spinning, yoga... etc...
and the bonus....
 A TANNING BED!
ohhh yessss baby!

So let the TRAINING
and TANNING begin!

Gold Does NOT Glitter.

Do Your Job

If only every wish could be granted......

My Chicken Recipe

I am a fan of cooking, and my boyfriend and as well as friends and his ginormous teammates are a fan of eating, especially eating something I've cooked. Recently I cooked a chicken dish my mom and grandma taught me, it is fairly easy, and it tastes as if I was back in my good ole country of Brazil. AH-MAH-ZING!

I've gotten a few requests for the recipe, so I decided I would post it on my blog, since I never actually given you guys a recipe before..... so here it goes.... Let's cook some chicken yall....

Chicken Recipe:

You'll need:

Bone-in chicken
Sliced garlic
Vegetable oil
Salt
Mixed sliced vegetables
(carrots, julianne, onions, parsley… etc)
Knorr or Goya Original Chicken seasoning ( in cubes)
(see pic below)

You will need a large pot/pan

Turn your stove top on to MED-HIGH,
Add a thin layer of vegetable oil so it covers the bottom of the
Sliced up some fresh garlic, and let it sizzle in the vegetable oil
When garlic starts to sizzle throw 1 block of the Knorr Chicken seasoning
And allow that to dissolve in the pot with the garlic
(you can move the Knorr around to help it dissolve faster)

Remove all the extra skin from the bone-in chicken
Sprinkle some salt around the chicken and throw it all in the pot.
(it should make a “frying” noise, as the outside is cooking rapidly by the hot oil)
Let it sizzle in the pot for a bit, to catch some color, flip it over and let it sizzle some more.

When you notice outside layer of the chicken looks as if it cooked,
Add 2 cups of water.
Throw in your vegetables, sliced onions.. etc.
Let it all mix in…..

Cover the pot with a lid.

Let the chicken cook for 20-30 minutes,
Or
until all water has evaporated and only little is left at the bottom of the pot

And its ready……..
At this moment you should have a nicely cooked and seasoned chicken
In your home made chicken broth and mixed veggies…..

And it is ready to serve…….
Try adding the broth to your rice,
hmmmm tastes so good,
I get hungry thinking of it.
Enjoy

Lily Allen Lyrics

Below are lyrics to one of my favorite all time songs
"I Don't Know"
by English recording artist
Lily Allen

I wanna be rich and I want lots of money,
I don't care about clever I don't care about funny,
I want loads of clothes and fuck loads of diamonds,
I heard people die while they're trying to find them,
And I'll take my clothes off, and it will be shameless,
'Cause everyone knows it's how you get famous,
I'll look at The Sun & I'll look in the Mirror,
I'm on the right track, yeah I'm onto a winner,

I don't know what's right and what's real anymore,
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
And when do you think it would all become clear
'Cause I'm being taken over by the fear...
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/l/lily_allen/i_dont_know.html ]
Life's about film stars and less about mothers
It's all about fast cars and passing each other
But it doesn't matter, cause I'm packing plastic,
And that's what makes my life so fucking fantastic
And I am a weapon of massive consumption
And it's not my fault, it's how I'm programmed to function
I'll look at The Sun & I'll look in the Mirror,
I'm on the right track, yeah I'm onto a winner,

I don't know what's right and what's real anymore,
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
And when do you think it would all become clear
'Cause I'm being taken over by the fear...

Forget about guns and forget ammunition,
'Cause I'm killing them all on my own little mission
No I'm not a saint, but I'm not a sinner
And everything's cool as long as I'm getting thinner

I don't know what's right and what's real anymore,
And I don't know how I'm meant to feel anymore
And when you think it would all become clear
'Cause I'm being taken over by the fear...

You Have To Start To be Great!

For as long as I can think,
 "losing weight"
"being in shape"
has always been one of my goals

It's a never ending battle,
not sure if I can even accomplish such a goal
but the fact I am still self-motivated
and still encouraging myself to a healthier me
is enough for me to keep focus and keep on
striving for what it is that  makes me feel good about myself

I know it takes hard work
dedication
and much effort at the gym
and at home with eating habits

I might never reach my goal of weighing 120 pounds
( less than 15 pounds away)
but it doesn't mean I will ever give up
because every number closer to my goal weight
makes me that much happier
than a number further from it.

K&K's Wedding

On Saturday; August 20th
our extremely famous reality show bombshell

Kim looked absolutely stunning
in her Vera Wang gown,

Thankfully, the
stunning and massive

(worth 5 million)
was her "something borrowed"
from Lorraine Schwartz.

Over 450 guests were invited,
(mainly all celebs)
for a mind-blowing

Guest were asked to wear white or black
and keep everything
about the ceremony confidential.

Well I sure can't wait to

Antwerp on Fire

It was early afternoon
I was in the kitchen...
and
BOOM!
BOOM !!
BOOM!!!

I heard it coming from outside,
but didn't think nothing of it,

Few minutes later,
I remember hearing a strange noise
 it sounded like running water

I thought to myself....
" maybe the walls in this apartment are thin"
and we can hear the drains through the wall.

Again, I didn' think to look outside
then I hear an even louder noise,
definitely thought...
this time it sounds like an explosion

I walk into our bedroom, open the blinds
and all I could see was a foggy
DARK SKY

There was smoke covering our whole view
I panic, and screamed,
I wasn't sure if our building was on fire
or what was happening.

I started to hear sirens
I screamed to my boyfriend to look out the window
while thinking....
"We got to get out of here, now!"
Soon we realized the fire wasn't in our building
but in a warehouse in a lot right below us,
where tanks of gasoline were stored inside.

We could see the tanks blowing up,
causing even bigger flames.
The fire got so high,
We could feel the heat from our 9th floor window

We watched while the smoke spread covering our blue sky
while the Fire Department set up their hoses.

Took about an hour for them to put all the fire out.

Local news hasn't reported what cause the explosion
(gas tanks, may be the obvious cause though)
There was 73 people evacuated
3 injured,
and a few were taken to the hospital due to
inhaling too much smoke.

It was a very surreal experience
I am glad everyone reacted quickly
And Thank God for keeping us safe

Brotip #624

I couldn't agree more with this quote tip
Sometimes the people we think is the most attractive
".....that girl/guy can get anyone she/he wants"
is probably the loneliest person we know behind closed doors.

I think there is a lot to do with the simple fact that:

BEAUTY IS INTIMIDATING

Often times, people will shy away
from what society considers to be
"above average"
and just "assume" that person has plenty
of people trying to purse,
so they don't bother to make an approach.

It's the intimidation factor
The thought potentially bruising
or shattering your "EGO" with a rejection

So what ends up happening is.....
that person becomes
 lonesome.

And in this particular case
I guess we could say...
it hurts being beautiful.

Until a very confident and humble person
(not necessary good-looking, but just confident and humble)
walks by,
sees more than beauty through their eyes

&
TAKES A CHANCE!

Tips on driving a stick shift

Okay.... like I said in my previous posts
driving a manual transmission car
can cause some intimidation to the driver.
But with the right tips on driving a stick shift
and enough practice,
it becomes something quite simple
and pleasent to do.

:)

Here is a few tips that has helped me,
teach my boyfriend....

The first thing you will notice is that there are 3 pedals instead of 2.
These 3 pedals are from left to right:
 the clutch,
the brake,
and the gas pedal.
After that you will notice the pretty little clutch in the center.
aka your new best friend!!!
In an automatic transmission car the car itself shifts gears automatically for you,
but in a stick shift, this is where the fun is.....because YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for shifting the gears.
Gears ranging from 1 to 5.

Another important part of your car, is your hand parking break.
You must always engage the hand brake on your car when parked, or when not in use
or your car will roll.. due to GRAVITY!
(trust me, the smallest hill will make your car roll)

Okay,
so to start the car, press down on the clutch (all the way!! yes, floor it), then start your car.
While pressing down the cluth, put the car on first gear (this is the heaviest gear, I like to think of it as the "take-off and parking only gear")

With your foot still pressed on the clutch, apply the foot brake and release the parking brake

then slowly release it from the break, and gently put it on the gas pedal,
(but do not accelerae just yet)

Gently begin to release your foot off the cluth, SLOWLY!!!!
when you feel your car start to "shake" and move forward
you can apply a little gas to accelerate.

It is a give and take movemet.
Give a little gas, while releasing the clutch a little.

PLEASE NOTE:
This process is the most important and the hardest when learning to drive a stick shift.
You must be able to feel the point where the car is needing for you to give it a little gas.

DO NOT remove your foot too quickly from the clutch
or else IT WILL STALL.

Once the car starts moving forward, you can then press the clutch all the way down again and switch to second gear. In each gear you will have to release the clutch gently while pressing down on the accelerator.
WARNING:
Make sure that you are not pressing the accelerator and clutch at the same time.
This may cause damage to your clutch.
Every 15 mph you can switch to a higher gear.

The same process you use when shifting upwards is the same used to downshift your vehicle.
Always shift to second gear to stop and make turns.

PLEASE NOTE:
Do not use first gear, unless you are parking, or taking off from being at a complete stop because it will cause your manual transmission vehicle to jerk.

To drive your vehicle in reverse, you will have to follow the same directions.

If you are parallel parking, reverse SOLELY using the cluth.
the more you release it, the more your car will move
making it possible to back up and readjust your vehicle
without having to gas it.

I hope this helps,
keep in mind that
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Working the clutch
is something that will come natural to you
once you have had plenty of practice
and exposure to it.

GOOODLUCK DOLLS!

The JERSEY SHORE!

Omygosh!
What is this world coming to?

I am a sucker for reality tv
and "The Jersey Shore" has totally
taken my reality show addiction
to a whole new level.
:::OBSESSION:::

I am in Europe dying to watch last week's episode of
The Jersey Shore.

This season the cast filmed in Italy.
::::ITALIA:::::
Since they all claim to be from an Italian background
MTV had the bright idea sending them International
$$$$$$$$

I don't know what it is about this cast,
but they are racking up viewers.
Making them the highest paid REALITY stars

"MTV really hit the JACK POT with these guys!"
I got to give props to all the cast members
for bringing juicy drama, and great laughs to
my life every Thursday on MTV
PAULY D
VINNY
DEENA
SNOOKI
RON
SAMMI
JENNI

oh yeah,
and ugh.
MIKE "The Situation"
(my least favorite cast member)

I just hope I can watch some of my
missed episodes online,
rather than having to twit
for juicy details.

Oh Stick Shift.

They say
"driving a stick shift car is one of the best feelings for a car enthusiastic"
well I am not a car enthusiastic,
So for me it is was one of the scariest feelings while in traffic.
(YIKES!)

I first learned to drive when I was 15 years old,
I remember my dad taking me out to an empty packing lot,
and we would practice almost every weekend.

But little did I know, I was a very fortunate driver
because I was learning to drive an automatic car.
And my biggest obsticle was the scary "parallel parking"

Well that was over 9 years ago,
and since then I've mastered my driving skills.

But in 2009 I decided I wanted to move back to
my home country of Brasil.
In Brasil, the only way to get your drivers licenses
is by passing a driving test on a stick shift.

So.....I enrolled into Auto School.
After hours and hours of expensive Auto school,
I had enough experience to get my licenses.

I must admit, I was NOT comfortable at all driving stick shift on the road alone.
I only was comfortable enough to pass the test,
(because I had practiced in the course, so many times)

Soon after, I went back to United States,
and never had an opportunity to put my new skills to the test.
and I thought to myself:
"all those hours practicing with the clutch went to waste"

But remember that old saying,
 "everything happens for a reason"?
Well, my life takes more turns than I expect.
And right now, living in Belgium, has put my driving stick skills to the test.

I was not prepared to have been given an manual car upon landing.
I didn't even have time to refresh my skills.
I was so intimidated,
as I rememebred the feeling of panic and embarrasement I felt when
my car would stall in traffic.

Well after a few moments days of stalling in mid traffic in Antwerp
Today, is my third day driving.
And I feel much more confident and comfortable.

and guess what??
.....I'm kinda loving it...

I am so proud of myself for finally putting
those auto school lessons to work.
That was money well spent.
Those lessons came in handy.

Next step......
teaching my boyfriend how to drive.
(wish me luck...)

Arriving in Antwerpen

Why, Hello Belgium!

On August 17th at approx 6am (Belgium time)
We arrived at the Brussels Airport.
Right away, a Antwerp Giants team official was on sight,
ready to pick us up and assist us to our new home.
but not before where we take some passport photos for immigration residency purposes

Brussels Airport is located about an hour South of Antwerp,
aka our new home
But before going to our apartment,
we had a few stops to make.

First one being the dealership called
CitroEn.
Where a beautiful Picasso 4-door vehicle was waiting for us
This car is perfect, brand new and very spacious.
but....it is MANUAL.

"Ohh oh"... Julian says.
As many other Americans, Julian never learned to drive a stick shift,
most cars in America are automatic, so there was never a need for him to ever learn
UNTIL NOW!
but looking on the bright sight, I had a few lessons and background experience driving
a stick shift since I am from BRASIL,
And in Brasil, driving a stick shift is a MUST.
so I offered to drive it home.
actually it was our only way to take our new car home.

I am not going to lie,
I was a little intimidated to drive it at first, and I felt very pressured to do so.
the only time I had driven a stick shift car was my AUTO SCHOOL car,
and had my teacher seating next to me to guide me.
But I stucked it up and went for it.
Since I was the only one who could drive it.

PHEWWWWW!
To my surprise,
the ride from Citroen to the practice court of the Antwerp Giants basketball team
was carefree, i did a very good job, as the car did not stall.
(God was def. watching over us at that moment)

But then as the day went on, and we had erronds to run with team secretary and officals.
I started to get hungry, tired and cranky.
And all the sudden my stick shift skills went down hill.
Every other second the car would stall in mid traffic
Causing much irritation, embarrasing and panic to Julian and I,
as people would honk, and go around with an angry look in their faces.
(and I dont blame them, but geezz)

Thank Godness we were close to our new apartment
so we were able to pull up to our street and walk to our new home.

9th floor please......
We walk in to a very spacious apartment,
but a beautiful and huge view of the city of Antwerp.
The apt was a little dirty
but nothing that cant be cleaned.

I think Julian and I were happy see a bed
and get some sleep.

We were jetlegged and extremely tired.
and only the next day was a day to explore the city
and unpack our bags......

and let this big move,,,,, set in...

Dear Belgium,

Last time I was in Belgium
it was November of 2009
while I was on my Europe-
"back-packing trip"

And
Never in a millions years did
I think I'd be back going back so soon
and this time is to actually
LIVE THERE!!!!
(Whoozers!)

Its official guys!!!!
My boyfriend got signed with the ANTWERP GIANTS
a Professional Basketball league in Belgium.

And we are set to arrive there
on Wed, August 17th 2011

I heard amazing things about the city of ANTWERP
and I can't wait to see what God has in stores for us.

It will be an experience of a lifetime
and a HUGE personal and professional life achievement
 for my boyfriend
for making his hobby a career.

And we are blessed to be able to share this experience together.
We are both filled with excitement and nervousness

Let the journey Begin!!!!!

Manicures and pedicures

A WOMAN'S MUST!!!!

Manicure & Pedicure

I think one of the rules of being a woman is getting a mani and pedi bi-weekly
Not just a polish change,
I'm taking about the whole nine yards,
the Brazilian type of manicures and pedicures:
where you soak your hands,
remove the cuticle
and polish it neatly
so every corner of your nail is polished.

To me, personally, manicures and pedicures is a MUST
I can't go 2 weeks without getting it done,
it is a sign of hygiene, and shows your feminine side

I cannot ever wear heels without nice pedi
It is my pet peeve to see a bare feet on heels (esp: peep toes)
Just absolute gross!!!
and if a man has any standards,
he should be automatically turned off
by a woman who doesn't take care of her nails regularly
