To be Remembered

I hate that my feelings are so transparent,
I wish that I could still smile, and my eyes could still shine
 on my rainest, cloudiest day.
But I am only human,
far from perfect
and pretend is a game I can't play.
I just hate when someone's negative attitude
or depressing mood
are strong enough to
affect the people around me
especiallu the ones that loves me the most
it becomes a domino reaction I shall say,
in negative way.
:(

Dear Julian,

HEY NORMAL DAY!

Learn to Appreciate

"Learn to appreciate what you have,
before time makes you appreciate
 what you had..."

I've known sadness

While browsing through a friend's facebook, I came across this very deep quote on her status, and I just had to share it to my blog-family
Thanks to L.A. :)

"I'm strong because I know my weakness.
I'm a lover because I'm a fighter.
I'm wise because I've been foolish.
I laugh because I've known sadness"

Not Yet Spring

A few blogs back I wrote an entry welcoming Spring
Well I scretch that! I have to take it back,
Spring is NOT here!
I repeat SPRING is NOT here!
This region is a region with tricky weather
if you not from here, the weather really does fool you,
due to sudden changes in temperatures
as fast as from morning to night
or day to day
One day the sun shines bright
temperatures goes as high as in the low 70's
and the next we are back to low 30's with a chance of snow.
It is end of March, and we got snow last night!
enough to stick on the ground.
I guess this is what they mean by
a long winter!

A Thousand Steps

Okay, so like every woman
I am never satisfied with my weight
being 5 foot 3 inches
I expect to be 125 pounds
but I am over my goal by a few pounds,
last time I checked I am 133.
So although I have a gym membership
(59$ a month/ at Washington Sports Club)
I cant get myself to do cardio without a trainer
So i ditched the gym (still paying for it though)
and I found a 10-mile joggers path
in DC, offering a beautiful view
to my left there is the river
to my right plenty of green plants
Although I do not run the full 10 miles
I do enjoy my jog
and it does motivate me to do it everyday
It is the first time, jogging became actually
something I look forward to in the mornings
before work.
and hopefully, really soon, I will start to see results
in my body, and jogging can motivate me and inspire me even mire

The Blind Side

Last night, while scrambling thorough my roommate's
200-plus copies of DVDs
searching to find a movie for my boyfriend and I to watch
I came across "The Blind Side"
starting Sandra Bullock.
This movie is inspired by a true story
based on the life of Memphis native
 "Michael Oher" aka Big Mike
and how he went from being homeless,
to getting an opportunity for a good education at a
Christian Private school
to being adopted  by a "white rich family"
whose kids went to school with Mike
to mastering the game of Football so well he was one of the
highest recruited players of all time by College nationwide
to getting a full scholarship to Ole Miss.
and becoming one of the best defensive lineman
in the National Football League.
It truly is an inspiring story
and an amazing movie to watch.

The Lululemon Athletica Murder

The store LULULEMON ATHLETICA is now not only known as a "high-end" athletic apparel store for both men and woman, that makes yoga inspired clothes, hot yoga wear. But now it is known for the vicious, brutal, murder of employee Jayna Murray by co-worker Brittany Norwood.

When news broke out that there has been a tragedy at the popular yoga appeal store in Bethesda, Maryland, it shocked our nation, and mostly our locals in the Tri-State metro area of MD, VA and DC. Due to the fact it hits so close to home to a lot of us, literally.  I currently reside in Georgetown, a borough located in Washington DC, within a few miles away from Bethesda, MD.

Jayna Murray (30)

Words like MURDER and RAPE ran across in bold prints in our local newspaper.

Police informed us of a gruesome murder at the Lululemon store in Bethesda, and only a week later after discovering the body of employee Jayna Murray, is when we discovered the sick and twisted turn story to this case.

On March 11, 2011, approximately 10:30 pm, nearby stores heard two women in a loud heated discussion inside the famous yoga-appeal store. From what is now assumed to be over employee Jayna Murray finding stolen merchandise in Brittany Norwood purse. Comes to find out it was far from your typical “work-related discussion” between two employees.

Montgomery County police on scene described the murder scene as a “gruesome crime” one of the worst he has ever seen:

“The crime scene was as awash with as much blood as any I've seen," an officer said.

Brittany Norwood
Jayna Murray (30) was found dead in the back room of the retail store, with numerous stab wounds to her body, her skull was crushed; her throat cut and her spinal cord had been severed.

Brittany Norwood (28) found tied up in the bathroom.  Norwood told police she was the survivor of an attack by two men who entered the store and sexually assaulted the women, killing Murray

But Norwood was telling a story that was far from the truth.  After a week after the tragedy, Norwood was arrest and charged with first degree murder of Jayna Murray.

Norwood
Police has enough evidence to charge Norwood for the murder of her co-worker, she is set to plead not guilty, but the amount of evidence including motive, fingerprint, lack of consistency in her story, cops believe she is very much guilty of the crime, and took 90-minute of strategize a plot for her crime.

What is worst, this is not a crime that was foreseen.  Norwood doesn’t have a violent record, and judging by her facebook profile picture, she reveals to be a ‘NORMAL” and happy, sweet girl next door woman. Judging from her looks, no one would ever assume she was capable of brutally attacking a co-worker, killing her, and plotting a cover-up fake story of a robbery gone bad, to save her ass.

Strength to Start All Over Again

Extraordinary things

and that takes us back to the very famous quote
"Dont judge a book by its cover"
Sometimes we allow amazing opportunities
to slip past us,
for the simple fact that we just wasn't
 looking hard enough!

Welcome to AMERICA

I can't agree with it more!
Very well said!

Spring is Here!

Oh yeah SPRING is here!
OH YEAH!
Today was officially the first day of
the Spring Season of 2011
in Washington D.C
and how do I know that?
Well...
2 words...
CHERRY BLOSSOMS!

Besides all the blooming Cherry Blossoms
in almost every tree in D.C....
the weather feels warm,
Georgetown University students are laying down on the front lawn
and in the middle of the day
on a regular friday
 the shopping streets are packed,
full of locals and tourists
wandering around!

So that tells confirms my theory
WINTER IS OVER (phew)
and SPRING IS HERE!
and it will be a beautiful spring time
in the Nations Capital City :)

Aprreciate Warmth

We tend to never appreciate what we have, until it is gone.
And the same goes for our weather.
While touring Europe in the winter of 2009,
I experienced some really cold days in Germany.
that made me want to rush my trip to Europe to get back to
summer time in Brasil that feels like a hot hell.
Once back in Brasil, I had nights with no A/C
that I would toss and turn in bed, from the heat and warmth
and high temperatures of Brasil.
I couldn't take it, I felt like I was delusional,
dying from the heat
and tired from the sweat
had me
wishing for an ice bath,
and dreaming of a cold icy storm.
Well, I should've been more careful for what I wished for.
because this I spent winter of 2011
in Washington DC. USA
and boy oh boy
some days I cried from the coldness I felt.
my skin felt like it was
ripping away from dryness from the cold.
I lacked in warm clothes
and all I wanted to do is soak my body in the Atlantic ocean
and to feel sun burning my skin
and to sweat from the warmth of the air temperature.
I felt so cold, that I wished for extreme warmth.
Away from anything that makes my body shiver
So i guess we always appreciate
the opposite side of things.
Thank Goodness every year
we go through 4 seasons.

Pray for JAPAN

"A massive 8.9/9.0 magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific Ocean nearby Northeastern Japan at around 2:46pm on March 11 (JST) causing damage with blackouts, fire and tsunami."

by: English.news.cn

BEIJING, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Aid offers from many countries have been pouring into Japan to help deal with the aftermaths of one of the most catastrophic earthquakes in human history and an ensuing tsunami that ravaged the country's northeast last Friday.

The damage caused by the quake defies description. In Miyagi prefecture alone, about 2,000 bodies were found on Monday, with the total number of casualties expected to reach tens of thousands eventually. Over 310,000 victims have taken refuge in public shelters, and another 24,000 are in desperate need of assistance. Nearly 46,000 houses and office buildings were wrecked, and six nuclear power reactors damaged, causing blackouts in Japanese households for the first time since World War II.

The Japanese government has received offers of help from 91 countries, and has accepted those from about 15 countries based on assessed needs. In addition to the five UN Security Council members, the United States, Britain, Russia, China and France, that list also includes countries like Afghanistan and Mongolia, with their due contributions in the fight against the fourth largest earthquake in the world since 1900 and the strongest ever recorded in Japan since 130 years ago.

A huge rescue effort launched by so many countries within so little time -- that would hardly be possible without the advantages brought about by the thriving development of modern human technology and economy, and unimaginable without the common determination and sympathy of every human heart when faced by the cruelty of Mother Nature.

"Disasters may bring the most sparkling part out of humankind," a 46-year-old Japanese woman said after last Friday's calamity. She had embarked on a six-hour-long odyssey on foot to return to Tokyo on that pitch-black night as the rail traffic was paralyzed by the quake. Along the way, she encountered strangers who offered her drinking water and simple food, along with courage and support.

At critical moments such as these, when natural catastrophes may tip the delicate balance between life and death, as forces mostly beyond our control, we all -- regardless of our nation or race -- are suddenly strangers no more. It is then that we realize we are sitting in the same boat, and that everyone's effort is needed to keep the boat moving forward

LUSH; Handmade Cosmetics

Today I went on a little jog around the nation's capital city (Washington D.C.) and while walking towards my destination area for jogging and working out, I stopped in one of the shops in Georgetown that has caught my eye in the past, but I never had time to walk in and check it out. The store name was LUSH. Lush is known worldwide (Originated in the U.K) but to me it was a new experience.  I seen it before, but I have walked in to a branch and educate myself on their products for my own LUSH experience.

I was blown away at each and every item.  It was defenitely a wonderful experience, and their producuts are so interesting, colorful, and NATURAL! I walked out with a Butter Body Bar, that exfoliates, leaving your skin soft and moisturized with essential oils as well as exfoliated and also a banana, white hazel face masque.  Lush is bound to be one of my favorite stores, did I meantion it makes great/unique gifts?

The colors, the scent, the ingredients and the shapes of each product drawed me into it so much. The fact that some shampoo and conditioners were made out of SOLID forms, was worth purchasing it and trying it out. I was just delighted by the whole experience. and I encourage EVERYONE to try their products out.
The best part is that they are environmentally and ethically conscious products. The products are ALL handmade with no animal testing and LUSH uses as little packaging as possible. The company has also rid its products of palm oil, which comes from trees in orangatan habitats. It's so hard to find reasonably priced ethical companies, so I'm excited about my new discovery!

"We believe in making effective products from fresh, organic* fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics.
We invent our own products and fragrances. We make them fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients, and tell you when they were made.
We believe in buying ingredients only from companies that do not commission tests on animals and in testing our products on humans.
We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud.
We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again.
We believe our products are good value, that we should make a profit and that the customer is always right."  -LUSH

* We also believe words like fresh and organic have honest meaning beyond marketing.

University of Michigan's FAB FIVE

ONE TEAM
ONE DREAM
FIVE FRESHMEN

So last night, March 13, 2011. ESPN premiered a documentary show called "Fab Five: In Their Own Words"

The Fab five was actually a nickname given by the media and public for a 1991 University of Michigan ( Go Wolverines) Men's basketball team recruitment class.  Which was considered to be "The Greatest Class Ever Recruited." Because the class consisted of 5 extremely talented, young freshman.

The class consisted of Detroit. Michigan natives Chris Webber and Jalen Rose, Chicago native Juwan Howard and Texas stars Jimmy King and Ray Jackson.  Their two year at U of M (before entering the NBA draft) they started in a combined 304 games out of a possible 350 games.

CULTURE ICONS
MISUNDERSTOOD
SHOCKING THE WORLD
& SCANDALS

Not only were these 5 talented freshman shared one team, with a dream, and that dream was to win and take their school to the NCAA championship, they also shared a lot of fame, commotion.  As as every good comes with a bad they share some love, and a lot of hatred from Michigan's Alumni, and some media.  But these 5 men and their University of Michigan program, shared a special bond, on the court and off the court these guys were experiencing it all for the first time, and a brotherhood relationship was born, this bond was "almost" unbreakable.

Fab Five were widely portrayed as the root of all evil in college sports, they originated the baggy shorts and black socks look to basketball. They blasted hip-hop music in the locker room, when hip-hop in those days wasn't so mainstream. and they talked trash. A lot of trash.

"Those types of uniforms and behavior might be commonplace today, but 20 years ago it was revolutionary, polarizing and heavily influential to a generation of young athletes. Although the Fab Five never got into serious trouble off the court, the players symbolized to many people a clear shift in the sports world and youth culture. Fans of all races and demographics spent millions of dollars on Michigan jerseys, shorts and the like, trying to capture a tiny slice of the group's mystique. By the end of their second year together, the Fab Five were routinely battered in the national media for the way they carried themselves. Articles and television reports painted them as brash villains or worse -- as thugs."-ESPN
This team went on to play two full seasons at U of M.  They reached the NCAA Championship game as freshmen in 1992 and again as sophomores in 1993. Although not winning, they sure brought a lot of media attention and their legacy went down on history. But unfortunately their legacy has been tarnished due to a scandal that developed after they had left for the NBA. And forced the university to forfeit many of its achievements and the removal of the Fab Five's banners from Crisler Arena.

At the end of their 1993 College Basketball season, 4 out of 5 players went on to sign contracts with the NBA. and all had successful careers, but none of the members of the FAB 5 has ever won an NBA championship.

If You Want to Fly,...

Whether we like to admit it or not
We carry around a heavy cross
It could be something you think about it everyday
or
it could be something that is buried inside of you
but the fact is the shit you are carrying within you holds you down,
wether it is consciously or subconsciously!
And to be quite frank,
the best way to drop the dead "emotional" weight
is to nip it in the bud
by facing the truth
and letting that shit go
as a thing in the past!
Give up that shit!
and
free yourself!
From whatever or whoever left a mark on you
You will be surprised how much more you can acheive
through a clean, free spirit that is not anchored down
with multiple ties to bullshit in the past that is irrelevant to their
lives today!

Be Aware: Bad Trend

BE AWARE:
Of the newest ugly trend out there!
Is it just me, or is this a terrible trend?
So why am I seeing this on the showcase of some reputable stores!?
Please let this trend end, before it starts

I don't see nothing cute about wearing beautiful high heels
and thick winter socks.
or regular socks period!
If you gotta wear socks, then just don't wear heels that day!
there is enough cute boots/booties out there
I have seen this look
in young woman around Georgetown (Washington DC)
this winter!
It looks like a spin-off stripper move
of a little young girl,
wearing white socks with her church shoes

Well This
 bold fashion statement
should only has the ugly feet girls on board.
I hope.
Because there is nothing CUTESIE about
not being able to show off your cute toeies
with your pretty fresh pedi
and your expensive beautiful heels
:)

Lime & Salt

It's no coincidence that my two favorite alcoholic drink both include:
 LIME & SALT.

My first drink of choice, is a very popular one,
we all know it as the:
 AUTHENTIC MARGARITA.

YUMMMM
Hello Mr. Jose Curvo
There is just something about a good margarita that makes my mouth water :)
I love it so much, that I frequently crave it.
My boyfriend questions my love for Margaritas as possible Alcoholism
But I definitely don't drink it often as I would like
and I def dont drink in large quantity
although,
to be honest I could literally take a whole pitcher by myself,
as if it was lemonade :)

\
Okay my second drink of choice is
COZUMEL

Cozumel is a very popular drink in Brasil,
and it can "look-like" a margarita
but it is VERY much different in taste due to the fact it does not contain tequila
but rather it contains a nice ice cold BEER.
It is made out of fresh lime juice, cold beer, and you can have the choice to salt on the rim.
and the great thing about it is:
you won't get drunk as quickly
(since it is beer that you are drinking, and not tequila)
So you get to enjoy the taste,
guilt free of being called an alcoholic

Oh and please note:
Cozumel; It is NOT "like a Corona",
though many people think it is similar. But No!
I am not a beer drinker, but adding the right amount of fresh squeezed lime juice
helps tranform the flavor of the beer to a tasty citrius drink
thats about ABSOLUTELY Delish! :)
